What happens to dogs when they drink alcohol?

After drinking alcohol, dogs may suffer from weakness, alcohol poisoning, allergies and even shock and death. This is because the dog’s body does not have the enzymes to metabolise the ethanol-like substances in alcohol. It is important not to give your dog alcohol on a regular basis and to keep such items out of reach of your dog.
