What are the symptoms of ear infections in dogs?

Inflammation of the dog’s ears can be characterised by redness and swelling of the ear skin, copious discharge from the inside of the ear, and mental head shaking or scratching of the ear. More serious cases of inflammation may result in a purulent discharge from the ear and treatment will require the pet owner to take the dog to the vet for examination before administering any medication.
