Treatment of Distemper

Early application of antibiotics (e.g. penicillin, streptomycin, etc.), together with symptomatic treatment, is important for the prevention of secondary bacterial infections and the recovery of the affected dog. The development of the disease can be controlled by high-dose injections of NIAA Canine Quintuple Anti-High Immunity Serum following the onset of clinical signs. A high dose of high immune serum given during the initial onset of distemper will allow the body to build up sufficient antibodies to prevent the onset of clinical signs for therapeutic purposes. In the later stages of the disease, when clinical signs of distemper are evident and neurological signs appear, it is often difficult to cure the disease even with the administration of distemper high immunity serum. Frequent convulsions can be treated with Thorazine or Valium, Glutamate and oral Ankylosing pills.
