The Singaporean cat, known in English as Singapura, is originally from Singapore. Small and muscular, it is a dwarf cat, with females growing to less than 2kg and the heaviest males rarely weighing more than 2.5kg. It is currently recognised as the smallest of all cat breeds. The cat’s elegant appearance, with its large ears and large, lined eyes, is impressive. The Singapore cat is the smallest domestic cat in the world, with some weighing as little as two kilograms. Also known as gutter cats and sewer cats, they were often forced to live in the sewers because they were not popular in their native Singapore in the early days. It was only in 1975 that the Singaporean cat was brought to the United States and has since become an important pet cat breed known around the world.
