Szechuan Jane’s Cat

The Sichuan Jianzhou cat is a domestic cat, named after its origin in Jianzhou (now Janyang City, Sichuan Province). It was tall and strong, very agile and a particularly good hunter, and was kept in large numbers in the countryside, mainly for catching rats. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was one of the four major national specialties given to the emperor of that dynasty, hence the fame of the Jianzhou cat as a royal tribute.
