Lysine is one of the essential amino acids required by dogs and can only be consumed through food as it cannot be synthesised on its own. Lysine helps with protein synthesis, strengthens the body’s resistance and promotes the absorption of calcium for bone development. Lysine also promotes gastric secretion and if the body is deficient in lysine it may cause indigestion and other disorders.
