If you are scratched and bleeding by an unimmunised feral cat, this is a tertiary exposure according to rabies control guidelines. The wound should be washed with running water and soapy water for 15 minutes and disinfected with iodophor. After this treatment, go to a hospital or CDC for rabies vaccination and rabies immunoglobulin as soon as possible. It is best to disinfect the wound with iodophor regularly within 24 hours to keep it in a clean and hygienic condition and to avoid infection.
