A white discharge from the eyes is a sign that your dog may have a medical condition. Watch for a normal appetite, if this is not normal, it will most likely be accompanied by a raised temperature. You will then need to go to hospital for treatment. Observe urination and see if the faeces are normal. Look at the eyes to see if they are red. If the conjunctiva is flushed, it is most likely inflammatory. Look at the areas of the body where there is less hair and see if there are any red spots, red patches or anything like that. If so, it may be distemper and it is best to have it tested as it has a good cure rate if caught early, but can be dangerous if caught late. Don’t think it’s okay, as this is the best time to treat it. You will regret missing it. Distemper can also be accompanied by a runny (purulent) nose, dead eyes, etc.
