The main symptoms are laryngitis, tracheitis, bronchitis, tonsillitis and pneumonia, which can vary in severity and are usually more severe in puppies. Sudden paroxysmal dry cough followed by dry vomiting or gagging, severe nasal leakage, excessive outward flow of nasal fluid with breathing, enlarged tonsils and anorexia. Some dogs show paroxysmal dyspnoea, vomiting or diarrhoea. As the disease progresses, the dog will become depressed, lose appetite and have muscle tremors, and eventually develop pneumonia, with shortness of breath and cyanosis of the visible mucosa, which can easily lead to death.
