How to tell when a cat has a fever

There are the following ways to determine when a cat has a fever. Firstly, a cat with a fever will appear to be in poor spirits, have a poor appetite and be lethargic. Secondly, feel its ears, if they are hot and the gas it exhales is hot, it means it has a high body temperature. In addition, feel its belly and four foot pads, if they are very hot it may have a fever. Finally, the most straightforward method is to use a thermometer to measure it. The normal body temperature for a cat is 38-39.5 degrees Celsius. The first is the anal temperature. It is more accurate to take the anal temperature by inserting the tip of the thermometer into the anus, about one to two centimetres, for two minutes. The second is the temperature of the lateral groin. If the temperature of the inner thigh is over 39 degrees or the rectal temperature is over 39.5 degrees, it indicates a fever.
