Take the dog to a cool place or a cool indoor area immediately. Wipe your dog with a wet towel, but do not leave the wet towel on your dog for too long as it will make him feel excessively damp; never use ice water or ice as this will cause your dog’s skin to contract and accelerate heat stroke or even shock. Contact your vet as soon as possible for prompt transport to hospital for further diagnosis.
