When a dog is shaking after a neutering operation, it is possible that the dog’s anaesthetic has not fully awakened just after the operation and the body’s muscle innervation is not fully under its control, so most dogs will be physically shaking. Once the anaesthetic has largely been metabolised, the shaking will stop. If the dog is still shaking when fully awake and conscious, we will need to consider other causes, such as stress and pain or abnormal surgery.
