The normal use of anal thermometry by the vet is more accurate and we usually have a special thermometer that can be inserted into the anus for 1-2 minutes. If pet owners may encounter resistance to doing this alone at home, they can use the inner thigh to take the temperature and add 0.5 degrees to the measurement as a reference.
