Herpetic dermatitis in dogs is mainly caused by infection with the canine herpes virus. The disease has a high mortality rate. The main signs of infection in dogs are depression, loss of appetite, a red rash on the inner skin of the femur, difficulty in breathing and no fever in dogs, but it is extremely lethal. If any of these symptoms occur, it is recommended that you should go to hospital immediately for infusion treatment to avoid delaying the disease. Puppies in particular may quickly die of dehydration and shock if not given fluids.
