Not difficult to keep. The German Foxhound has a small fox-like face with long, coarse outer fur and thick, dense inner fur. The head is medium sized, widest at the back and tapering to the tip of the nose in a wedge-like pattern. The neck is medium length, wide and slightly arched, with no drooping flesh at the throat, and the coat is thick and abundant forming a large plumed jaw. The neck and shoulders are covered with a coarse bristle, the back of the front legs are well trimmed, the hind legs are richly trimmed from the rump to the fly, and the tail is broom-like.
