Do dogs need to be shaved in summer?

It is not recommended to shave your dog in the summer. Dogs lose heat mainly through their tongues and fleshy pads, and the hair can be cut short or thinned as appropriate. Shaving may cause loss of appetite, major mood changes or even depression in dogs and make them more susceptible to skin diseases. It is best not to shave your dog unless it is necessary for treatment.
