Cats can eat watermelon

Watermelon is not recommended for cats, although some cats do not feel uncomfortable eating a small amount of watermelon, this does not mean that cats are allowed to eat watermelon. Cats are strict carnivores and their gut development is more suited to the digestion and absorption of high protein than to the digestion and absorption of large amounts of fibrous or high carbohydrate. Once cats start eating watermelon, a small number of cats may not show any abnormalities, while most will show signs of diarrhoea and vomiting. Cats with allergies to watermelon may even show symptoms such as facial swelling and shock, although this is of course a relatively rare occurrence. Watermelon is one of the harmful foods for cats published by the ASPCA, so it is not recommended to feed watermelon to cats. If your cat accidentally eats a small amount of watermelon, just watch for any abnormalities.
