There are many species of canine tapeworm, including Canis lupus, Joey’s tapeworm and Tapeworm spp. The symptoms of infection in dogs are usually not obvious, but severe cases can be seen with diarrhoea, vomiting, emaciation, malnutrition and shedding of tapeworm segments in the faeces. Treatment can be with arsenic quinone at 30 to 60 mg per kg once a day for three times and once a month thereafter.
