Dogs can recover from spay/neuter surgery. Routine neutering of dogs takes about 10 days for the entire procedure from pre-surgery preparation to full recovery, after which the dog can return to its normal routine. The dog will still retain some of its reproductive characteristics after neutering, but its sex hormone levels will be reduced and it will no longer be fertile.
