Energetic and loves to run. The Alaskan Sled Dog is one of the oldest Arctic Sled Dogs. They are strong, thick-chested and muscular. The way it stands with its head held high shows great courage and energy. The alert eyes are full of curiosity. The dog has a broad head, triangular, erect ears and a broad muzzle that tapers from the root to the tip of the nose, without the muzzle appearing long and sharp, or short and thick. In order to survive the cold winds and snow of the polar circle, they have a double coat with a wool-like undercoat and a thick, coarse, long upper coat. The coat comes in a variety of colours, with patches on the face being a distinctive feature. The tail coat is thick. Curled towards the back, it resembles a waving flag. As its ancestors came from a background of mainly pulling carts and sleds, in addition to its hunting function, the Alaskan Sled Dog has robust limbs and is well-boned with strong, sturdy legs and feet.
