Are dogs nearsighted? Dogs are indeed nearsighted. By human standards, dogs have twice as many crystalline bodies as humans and can only see objects up to 50 meters. However, dogs have a very wide field of vision and can see up to 250 degrees in both eyes. To a certain extent dogs are indeed color blind and they cannot see red or green. Because dogs do not have as many cone cells as humans, dogs have only two types of vision while humans have three, so dogs do not see as many colors as humans.
