Four steps to train a Mastiff to get down! One look and you’ll know

The Mastiff is a tall, sturdy breed of dog, native to England, and one of the largest breeds in the world. The Mastiff is also used as a military or police dog because of its natural physical prowess and its loyal and brave characteristics. This dog is strongly aggressive and must be trained to be obedient. Today I share my experience in training the Mastiff with the action of getting down as an example. Step 1: When the Mastiff has good obedience, the owner should turn sideways to the dog, squat in front of it, kneel on one leg and bow the other, signaling the dog to pay attention to the owner’s actions. Step 2: Stroke the Mastiff with your hand to relax him, then place the prepared food on the other side of the bowed leg and give the “down” or “down” command. The dog will try to get the food by getting under the bowed leg. Step 3: With one hand, continue to pet the Mastiff, putting a little more pressure on the dog’s body to keep it close to the ground; with the other hand, move the food slightly away from the dog, so that his body stretches more and completes the down motion. As long as the dog completes well, you can reward him with food. Step 4: This training process is simple, but it needs to be repeated several times, and the muzzle must be fixed, and the muzzle must be called repeatedly each time you train. When the Mastiff’s brain forms a conditioned reflex, as soon as he hears the command “lie” or “down”, he will be able to lie down in place, which proves that this action has been trained in place. In short, the process of training a Mastiff is not complicated, but it requires a lot of patience and requires the owner to be clear about rewards and punishments in order for the dog to be fearful and obedient to the owner and for the training to be more effective.
