Dobermans start to recognize their owners at 2-3 months of age, but the time it takes for a dog to recognize its owner depends largely on the amount of time the two spend together. The younger the dog, the more interaction it has with its owner, the shorter the time it will take to recognize its owner. If a Doberman was raised, owner-admitting behavior will occur at 4 months of age. If the Doberman was adopted, then the minimum time required for ownership will be 2-3 weeks. In the case of owners who spend little time with their dogs, this is delayed to 1-2 months.
