The Akita and Shiba Inu have distinct differences in head shape, eyes and mouth. The Akita has an inverted triangular head, larger, round eyes and a wider mouth. The Shiba Inu, on the other hand, has a round head, smaller, oval eyes, and a longer, more slender mouth. Akita and Shiba Inu also have obvious differences in size. Akita is a very large dog, and when it grows up, it is quite tall with Doberman, so the owner can pet their heads if they bend down slightly; whereas Shiba Inu is a medium-sized dog, and when it grows up, it is almost the same size as a husky, so the owner may have to bend down to pet them.
