Damaged hair follicles in dogs can be adjusted with some medications, which generally provide some relief and are not too problematic. If the hair follicle is damaged or necrotic caused by a long term untreated skin disease such as septicemia, fungal infection or bacterial infection, then it is very unlikely that the hair follicle will be repaired intact. Also don’t just use topical skin medication, there are many medications that are not up to par or incorrect in usage that can cause blockage of the hair follicles.
