The interval between dog births is mostly variable. If the dog is healthy and the birth process goes well, it is usually 20-40 minutes between births. A female dog will usually start giving birth within half an hour after her water breaks, and one can be born in as little as 10-20 minutes, but if she has a difficult birth, her strength is exhausted or she is giving birth for the first time, then the interval will be longer, sometimes up to an hour. Owners must prepare plenty of food and drinking water for the mother dog to avoid eating the puppies during labor.
