The Golden is a well-proportioned, powerful and lively breed, scientifically known as the Golden Retriever, solid, with reasonable body parts, legs that are neither too long nor awkward, a friendly expression, and a warm, alert and confident personality. The better Golden male is 23 – 24 inches tall at the shoulder; the Golden female should be 21 – 22 inches. The ratio of the distance from the sternum to the tip of the hips to the shoulder height is 12:11. The male dog weighs 65-75 pounds and the female dog weighs 55-65 pounds.
