The American Bully is a medium-sized dog with a very compact, hard, muscular body that feels very solid to the touch, and a glossy, smooth coat that is accepted in all colors and patterns. The American Bully’s head is medium in length, with a very deep cranial septum and an extremely broad skull with prominent cheek bite muscles. The ears may be cropped or uncropped, but if cropped they must be short and fully erect. Eye color is acceptable except for yellow eyes and albinos. The American Bully’s head, when viewed from above, is a very nearly round oval shape, which reinforces the broad skull as a distinctive head feature. His mouth is of medium length, with a slightly squared palate surface, rounded on both sides, extending below the eyes and getting thicker as it reaches the root of the mouth, with a strong bite in the lower jaw, symmetrical to the upper jaw, and a very defined muzzle, “grounded” or “grounded “The lips are very compact, no large cheek skin, some slight cheek skin is also acceptable, but definitely not preferred. The teeth of the Bully are very strong and compactly arranged, showing a scissor bite from the outside. The color of the American Bully’s nose is acceptable no matter what color it is, but a “fancy nose” as an adult is not preferred. The American Bully’s neck is very thick, running from the top of the shoulders to the underside of the brain, with a distinct arch of muscle at this stage. This dog does not have loose skin, and the strong muscles make their skin look more compact. The shoulders of the American Bully are a very important part of the dog’s body. They have solid, pronounced, strong shoulder musculature with a broad, pronounced sloping shoulder skeleton. The back is level and straight, running from the top of the shoulders to the hips. The hips have a gentle slope and the muscles are slightly upturned, but it is not preferred if the adult dog has only a pronounced height resulting in an uncoordinated overall back. The skeletal structure of the American Bully’s body is also very important. Their ribs are very tight and support a broad enough chest, and their front legs are straight and must have a considerable width of distance to support their broad shoulders and deep, solid, broad chest. Their tails are thick at the root and taper to the middle end of the tail, but they must not roll upward. A slight “flare” of the front feet is also accepted. Their bones must be stout and well-proportioned.
