Why do dogs get ear mites

Ear mites are highly contagious parasites that prefer dark, damp areas and feed on epidermal debris and tissue fluids. This is why dogs with dirty ears are so susceptible to infection. Ear mites are also highly contagious and are transmitted through close contact. Dogs usually get ear mites because their ears lack cleaning in general.
