What to do if your cat has hookworms

Hookworm disease is one of the more common and important nematodes in cats and is caused by some infections of hookworm and trematode nematodes. It is important to keep the cat’s living environment clean and hygienic at all times, as it should be cleaned frequently and kept dry. Spring and autumn are susceptible seasons and regular faecal checks and disinfection of utensils are needed to prevent infection from occurring. If hookworm infection is diagnosed, it is advisable to purchase special internal deworming medication for cats from the internet, or better still, take them to the hospital to be dewormed, so that the owner is not sure of the dosage and gives the cat too much deworming medication causing vomiting or diarrhoea.
