It is normal for cats to snore. A cat’s snore is the sound made by the resonance of the larynx when the pseudo-vocal cords vibrate. Cats do not fall asleep when they snore. Cats do not snore when they are usually playing, when they are stressed and when they are really asleep. Only when the cat is content, or when lying in its owner’s arms and relaxed, will it make a soft purring sound. Any cat that snores incessantly may have a respiratory virus.
