The presence of bacterial (Brucella canis, Campylobacter) or viral (distemper virus, canine herpes virus) infections in the organism of a pregnant bitch can cause her to be stillborn. The presence of hypothyroidism, immune-mediated haemolytic anaemia, immune-mediated thrombocytopenia or other haemorrhagic disorders in the mother can cause stillbirth.
