When a dog has a fire, the urine will change from its usual translucent yellowish colour to a deep orange-yellow colour, and the smell of urine will increase significantly, making the urine pungent and unpleasant. There will also be a large amount of eye discharge, significantly increased tear stains and dry faeces that turn from their normal yellow colour to a dark brown and granular consistency. If you find that your dog has a fire, you can add a little salt to your dog’s drinking water and add fresh diced carrots and green vegetables like peppers to his meal. You can also wipe his nose with light salt water. Remember to keep the salt water light, as dogs should not consume too much salt.
