Treatment for concussion in cats

The principles of concussion treatment for cats are to enhance care, sedate and calm the mind, protect the cerebral cortex, prevent brain haemorrhage, reduce intracranial pressure and promote the recovery of brain cell function. The cat should be kept quiet and the head elevated with a cold compress in a water bag. Use appropriate haemostatic medication. Reduce intracranial pressure using mannitol intravenously. Oxygenation is required to improve cerebral hypoxia.
