The advantages of having a Dachshund include: it is a gentle, loyal and protective dog that likes to be close to people and is an excellent companion; it is quiet and does not growl; and its coat is easy to care for and does not shed easily. Disadvantages: not very intelligent, difficult to train; short nasal passage, may be more prone to respiratory disease than other dogs; snores when sleeping; strong body odour.
