Ringworm is actually a fungus. There are two types of fungus that infect cats with ringworm, Microsporum canis and Stachybotrys whiskers, most of which are Microsporum canis, and as the disease evolves, it becomes an irritating, dry, circular rash covered with grey scales. Ringworm grows mainly on the nose, forehead, mouth, back of the ears, limbs and abdomen, although in severe cases it can extend over the whole body. It is mainly caused by the accumulation of bacteria on the face when drinking milk.
