Symptoms of coccidiosis in cats

Coccidiosis in cats is a common parasitic disease in which isospora parasitises the mucosal epithelium of the small and large intestine. Clinically, it is characterised by a loss of appetite, depression, loose faeces mixed with blood and mucus, rapid wasting, pale mucous membranes and some vomiting. Young cats have poor resistance and often die from extreme exhaustion, while adult cats are generally chronic.
