The Rusty Spotted Leopard Cat (scientific name: Prionailurus rubiginosus): or simply the Rusty Spotted Cat, is a very small wild cat, and because the female weighs only 1 kg, she is one of the smallest wild cats in the world, along with the black-footed cat. They have grey fur with rusty patches on the back and sides and a white, unspotted belly. The tail is thick, almost half the length of the body, and darker, so the spots are not obvious. Semi-perched in trees, it is a good climber and can easily hunt in trees. Captures mainly birds and small mammals of the rodent family and is found in southern India and Sri Lanka.
