Canine enteritis is an acute or chronic inflammation of the intestinal mucosa. There are many causes of enteritis and the main symptoms are: liquid-like, foul-smelling, often mixed with mucus, blood and foam in the later stages. Severe cases of vomiting can occur. Young animals should be treated promptly at the hospital, while adults can be kept off food and water for 8 hours and then fed small amounts of water to observe if they vomit. If there is still vomiting, seek medical attention as soon as possible.
