The first immunisation routine for puppies in their first year is to give the first vaccination against infectious diseases at around six weeks of age and then at three-week intervals, for a total of three doses. Rabies vaccinations should only be given after the dog is three months old and should only be given once a year. Usually the dog will be three months old by the time the third vaccination is given, so the rabies can be given at the same time as the third vaccination. A total of three visits are required for four shots.
