Canine infectious bronchitis is characterised by sudden onset, continuous coughing, light day and heavy night, and irregular coughing of sputum. It is a highly contagious respiratory disease characterised by increased eye and nasal discharge and can affect dogs of any age. The cough can also worsen with strenuous exercise, agitation and illness. Antibiotics with biologics are used to treat the condition, along with the application of cough suppressants, maintaining adequate calorie and water intake, reducing contact with other dogs, maintaining optimal temperature and humidity, preventing secondary infections and reducing stress and irritation.
