How to check your dog’s ear canal

A normal ear canal in a dog should have a pinkish visible mucous membrane. There is no or only a small amount of waxy discharge, the ear canal is clean and odourless (some dogs may smell slightly, but not pungently) and the canal is dry and not damp. If the dog’s ears are clean and odourless, they are basically healthy.
