Canine distemper virus infection is usually treated with non-specific and supportive therapies. The disease is commonly associated with secondary bacterial infections of the intestinal and respiratory systems and requires the use of biological agents such as interferon, electrolyte supplementation and control of bacterial infections. Distemper treatment can take a long time to treat, with severe healing likely to take up to two months.
