Can dog flu affect people?

Generally infected dogs will have a persistent cough, runny nose, lethargy, poor appetite and fever. Dog flu is usually spread by air, mucous membranes and contact. The risk to humans is not great, but pet owners should wash their hands and avoid contact with dogs with the disease.
