How to look at a Rottweiler’s face

The purebred Rottweiler has a medium-length head with a wide skull, medium-sized, almond-shaped eyes with tight, moderately sunken eyelids that neither protrude nor retract, a straight nose with a wide base that gradually narrows toward the tip, a black nose, medium-sized pendulous triangular ears, a dark inner mouth pigmentation, a moderately arched frontal line in the lateral view, well-developed zygomatic arches and frontal nasal steps, strong and wide upper and lower jaws, and a cranial to muzzle ratio of 3:2. The Rottweiler’s torso has a four-sided physique, firm and strong, with a broad chest, straight back and sloping loin. The forelimbs are straight and muscular, and the hindlimbs are bent at an acute angle. The tail root is high and horizontal, and the tail is usually broken at the first joint. The Rottweiler’s coat is short, straight and coarse on the top and fine on the bottom. The coat is black, with fawn or reddish-brown spots on specific areas, which do not exceed one-tenth of the body. The undercoat is black, gray, and light brown, but it is not good enough to be seen from the outside. Rottweiler puppies also have some rather unique features on their feet. Their forefeet are round in shape, but the hindfeet are slightly elongated. The pads of flesh on the feet are hard. The paws are very short and the nails have more pronounced black markings on them.
