A runny nose in dogs is a basic symptom of a cold or inflammation. Common cold and flu medications and anti-inflammatory drugs can be given to dogs, but the amount of medication should be used at your discretion. The dosage for dogs is one-third to one-half of the dosage for humans, and the smaller the size of the dog, the smaller the dosage. As the temperature drops, the chances of your dog catching a cold and then having a runny nose gradually increase. Be careful to keep your dog warm and don’t keep him in a room that is too cold. Keep a warm blanket in the kennel and wear good clothing when you go out.
