The Spaniel is a hunting dog and has a tremendous amount of exercise, so too much exercise can lead to a high body odor in the dog itself. The Spaniel’s ears are pendulous, and because of the high humidity inside the secondary ears, microorganisms can easily multiply, which can also lead to odor. If a dog has a wound on its skin, it is common for it to emit an odor. The wound will expand due to bacterial infection, which will cause the dog’s skin to produce an odor. It is recommended that dogs with skin problems be treated promptly. Daily combing of the dog can clean the dust on their fur, plus regular bathing can reduce the dog’s body odor. Bathing should be done with a weak acid bath with little stimulation. If the number of baths is too much, the secretions that protect the skin will also be washed away, which is not good for health, so regular cleaning is sufficient.
