The four major breeds of German Shepherd are the East German, West German, mixed-breed, and other European lines. The current common German Shepherds are the older East German and the improved West German. The West German and East German are significantly different in size, with the West German having a larger back arch than the East German to enhance its ornamental qualities. The mixed-breed line includes mixed-breed with wolves and mixed-breed with dogs. The mixed-breed line of German Shepherd with wolves mainly includes Dutch Wolfdog, Czechoslovakian Wolfdog and Italian Wolfdog. The mixed-breed German Shepherd with dogs includes the Northern Inuit and the Finnish Wolfhound. In addition to the German line, other European lines of German Shepherd include Czechoslovakian line, Belgian line, Hoeland line, Danish line, and English line.
